Since then I've run some tests and watched some video with HDR10 on the P series, but according to the company it's not yet finished optimizing the TV. Update September 19, 2016: Last month Vizio issued the software update allowing the P- and M-series TVs to work with HDR10 sources like 4K Blu-ray players. The review update promised below never materialized, but I do expect to review the 2017 Vizio P series soon. The review has not otherwise been changed. As a result the rating of the 2016 Vizio P series has been reduced from 8.7 to 8.4. Update June 30, 2017: For 2017 we have updated weighting system we use to figure the overall ratings in TV reviews. Once again, the best TV for the money looks like it will be a Vizio. In fact, right now, the only real challenge to this P-Series on the value horizon is the company's own less expensive, similarly equipped M series. And if you wall mount like me, you can use the stand to “wall mount” the soundbar, too.A "free tablet" might get some people in the door, but a great picture for the price is what makes me like the P-Series so much. The stand even has two height settings so you can ensure the soundbar doesn’t block the display. If you buy a compatible Vizio soundbar, it can slot into the stand. I wall mount my TVs though, so it doesn’t make a difference.īut speaking of the feet and stand, like other Vizio TVs this year, the P-Series stand comes with a handy trick. Squint a little and you’ll see the P-Series places the feet close together, which may be beneficial for anyone using a narrow TV stand. At first glance, you might think the two TVs looked identical.
